Bree West
Bree West is a NAACP Image Award nominated writer, showrunner, film and music video producer, and director whose work has been broadcasted on BET, BET+, TVOne, Lifetime, ALLBLK, Amazon Prime, ROKU and Apple TV networks. Bree started her film career in 2015 when she co-executive produced, “The Real MVP: The Wanda Durant Story” with Queen Latifah and Shakim Compere. She then began developing and producing film content with her husband and producing partner Chuck West and they established OCTET Productions, a full-service film, television, and event production company in 2015. Today, Bree is currently the Chief Creative Producer of OCTET Productions. In 2019, OCTET produced its first scripted film for BET Network, “Angrily Ever After,” a romantic comedy directed by Terri J. Vaughn. Later that year, she produced OCTET’s next film, “’Twas The Chaos Before Christmas” starring Cynthia Kaye McWilliams, Sherri Shepherd, Affion Crockett, and Victoria Rowell, premiered on BET. The film was the highest-rated holiday film in BET Network’s history. During the Biden-Harris Presidential Inauguration of 2021, OCTET produced a virtual gospel concert event, “The 2021 Inaugural Gospel Celebration,” hosted by Anthony Anderson with special appearances by Taraji P. Henson, Morris Chestnut, Lamman Rucker, and Pastor Shirley Caesar. She also produced the BET hit, “American Gangster Presents: Big 50: The Delrhonda Hood Story,” starring Remy Ma, Tank and Debbi Morgan. Bree West went on to produce a suspense thriller entitled, “Stalked Within” (2022). Bree also premiered her first writing project that she also produced entitled, “A Wesley Christmas” starring Jasmine Guy, Dorien Wilson, TC Carson and a host of other outstanding talent. That film garnered Bree her first NAACP Image Award nomination for “Outstanding Writing in a Television Movie or Special” (2022). Also in March 2022, Bree was selected as Washington DC’s Office of Cable Television Film Music and Entertainment’s Filmmaker of the Month To complete 2022, Bree released season one of “HUSH”, a salacious series where she served as co-showrunner, producer and writer. She also co-wrote and executive produced the sequel to her most recent Christmas film entitled, “A Wesley Christmas Wedding”, a film that opened BET’s holiday film catalog in 2023. Also in 2023, Bree released the second season of “HUSH” where in addition to her roles first season, she added the role of first-time director for two episodes. She also co-wrote and produced “A Kismet Holiday”, a Christmas romantic comedy that is set to be released during Christmas of 2024. This March, Bree will travel to Durban, South Africa to produce the third installation of the Wesley Christmas franchise that she co-wrote entitled, “A Wesley South African Christmas.” Bree West is also committed to giving back to the community and mentoring the next generation of filmmakers. Bree has given lectures to several high school and colleges and helped advance the careers of young aspiring filmmakers. “It is our responsibility to make sure that the next generation gets exposure and access to opportunities more easily than we did. There is power in numbers. Our goals are to unite the diaspora so that we can collectively benefit from our efforts and amass the stability and greatness that we deserve. Film and entertainment are viable vehicles to achieving just that.” She has been a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated since 1993. Of all her accomplishments, Bree is most proud of her dedication to her family. She and her husband Chuck have eight children, four girls that came to the marriage by Bree and two biological sons and two nephews raised like sons from Chuck. She affectionately calls her family, “blended to perfection.”
